By February, I'm always ready for a little indulgence. I've fully recovered after the holiday frenzy and am enjoying the toasty weather after the great freeze last month.
There have been some fun activities this season so far; some of my favorites: The Nutcracker at Symphony Hall, New Year's Eve at Hotel Valley Ho, Cavalia Odysseo, Barrett-Jackson, and coming up - Arizona Cocktail Week! I personally can't think of a better way to celebrate the second week in February, or any other week for that matter. It's been exciting to see the proliferation over the past few years of local mixologists, or "bar chefs", as some prefer to be identified, using herbs, spices and infused syrups to create something truly unique and special. This soiree kicks off on Saturday, February 16th, with the Cocktail Carnival at 6pm here at Hotel Valley Ho. The Arizona Cocktail Week events conclude on Friday, February 22nd. We are excited to welcome back Sonoma-Cutrer as our Monday Night Chef's Table guest in February. Sonoma County is famous for its chardonnay, and Sonoma-Cutrer has been growing beautiful chardonnay grapes there since 1973. The vineyard is located along the hillsides and rocky foothills in the Sonoma Coast Appellation, an area with long, even growing seasons that is strongly influenced by maritime variations. Cool nights and days that rarely get hot contribute layers of oceanic fog that creep into Sonoma's interior valleys through numerous spots like the Petaluma Gap. If you love chardonnay, I hope you can attend our Chefs Table on Monday, February 25th, for an exceptional night of food and wine.
We know you're not the type to forget Valentine's Day. As luck would have it, we're featuring some beautiful dishes for the occasion (yes, we have lobster) along with our regular menu, and all the little touches to set the mood on that special day including some Coconut Chocolate Bites to end the meal.
